|8 November 2010 | The late Justin O’Brien is the subject of a forthcoming retrospective to be staged at the Art Gallery of New South Wales. |
It is the first major exhibition of his work at a state gallery since his passing in 1996 at the age of 79.
|Justin O’Brien: The sacred music of colour includes 94 paintings, watercolours and drawings spanning seven decades, from O’Brien’s early years as a student in Sydney to his final years living in Rome. Some of the works have not been seen in public for more than 60 years.|
The retrospective opens 18 December 2010 and continues over summer to 27 February 2011.
