Alexie Glass-Kantor appointed executive director of Artspace - Art Collector

4 September 2013 | Noted curator Alexie Glass-Kantor has been announced as the incoming executive director of Artspace, located in Sydney's east.

Glass-Kantor is currently the director and senior curator at Gertrude Contemporary in Melbourne. Previously she was a curator at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image, also in Melbourne, and last year she co-curated
Parallel Collisions: the 12th Adelaide Biennial of Australian Art.

Speaking about her new appointment, Glass-Kantor stated that Artspace is a preeminent institution for supporting the artists and ideas of contemporary times and that she is tremendously excited to be part of its future. She will commence her role at Artspace in early November.

In other appointment news, Monash University has announced Tara McDowell as the associate professor and director of curatorial practice, Monash Art Design & Architecture's new curatorial PhD program. She has previously held curatorial appointments at the San Fransisco Museum of Modern Art and the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art.
