In late November, Gallery 9 of Sydney announced representation of painter Alice Wormald. Since completing her Bachelor of Fine Art (First Class Honours) at the Victorian College of the arts, the young painter has gone from strength to strength. The artist has been name finalist of multiple awards, including the City of Albany Art Prize (2015), the Geelong Contemporary Art Prize (2014), the John Leslie Art Prize (2012) and The Kilgour Prize for Figurative Painting, Newcastle Region Art Gallery, among others. Her works have been acquired by the Joyce Nissan Collection, Fiona Myer Collection and the Gippsland Art Gallery.

In a statement, Gallery 9 noted that “Wormald's paintings depict spaces where surface and depth, representation and abstraction, naturalism and artifice converge. Usually starting with a process image collection, Wormald constructs collages which are used as a reference for her meticulously detailed paintings.” Wormald has been represented by Daine Singer in Melbourne since 2012.
