Artist Statement:

“Everyone sees and feels the world in a different way. I love this and I use printmaking and words to represent my world.

I found linocut printing about five years ago and I have always loved writing. Linocuts to me are like creating a snapshot of a memory - I make works that reference places and things that mean something to me.
Once I have carved and printed my works I add block colour either by pigmented ink or digitally which gives the prints a flat, almost cartoonish feel. The finished product is either a hand printed and coloured linocut on paper or a printed canvas.

My words add depth to the prints for me and between the prints and the words I hope my work opens a door for other people’s memories. I absolutely love when people respond to my art by telling me their own association with what I have printed.

My art is now my livelihood and it means everything to me. My aim is to be old and doddery but still carving every day – still getting lost in the joy my art brings to me and hopefully others. “
