Andrew Chapman wins New North Prize - Art Collector

22 November 2010 | Andrew Chapman has won the New North Prize for Photography for a work called Sea of Heartbreak.

Chapman’s work depicts dead fish and insects in a dried up waterway. The judging panel, which included Shaune Lakin from the Monash Gallery of Art, commented on Chapman’s awareness of contemporary issues in the choice of subject matter.

Also recognised were Kirstin Bowers, whose work was highly commended, and Margot Sharman, who won the portrait category.

The award exhibition is on view at
New North Gallery in Melbourne until 27 November 2010.
