16 May 2011 | Art consultant Annette Larkin is partnering with Mark Hughes to launch a new consultancy venture called Larkin Hughes.

She will close her own Danks Street consultancy, Annette Larkin Fine Art, which she launched in 2006.

The Larkin Hughes office is expected to open in Sydney in July or August. The consultancy will provide advice on collecting along with collection management and valuation services, and secondary market sales.

Hughes, the former associate director of Sydney’s Sherman Galleries, has spent the past 10 years in New York working for Galerie Lelong and, prior to that, Barbara Gladstone Gallery. He took these galleries to a number of international art fairs and in 2009, he also sat on the selection committee for Art HK. His time overseas had given him numerous contacts with international galleries, museums and private collectors.

Larkin was formerly associate director and head of contemporary art at Christie’s Australia. She has 26 years’ experience in the Australian and international art markets and is an accredited valuer for Australian painting, works on paper, prints and sculpture after 1788, among other categories.
