18 December 2013 | Art Month Sydney have revealed a number of collector focused events as part of their program for 2014.

Although the complete itinerary is yet to be announced, over 90 galleries, cultural venues and special pop up venues are already confirmed and a significant number of the confirmed talks and events are oriented towards art collectors.

The Collector's Space, a pop up exhibition that was a major highlight of last year's Art Month Sydney, will return in 2014. Curated by the chair of Art Month, Natalia Bradshaw, it will again present significant private collections for their first public exhibitions.

Collectors who will participate in
The Collector's Space during 2014 include:
  • Andrew Cameron, philanthropist and chair of the Art Gallery of New South Wales Foundation, chair of the Belvoir Theatre, deputy chair of the Biennale of Sydney and board member of the Sherman Contemporary Art Foundation;
  • Gary Sands, director of Di Jones Real Estate;
  • Lisa Havilah, director of Carriageworks and Glenn Barkley, curator at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney; and
  • An anonymous industry insider who is an in-house photographer for a Sydney art institution whose collection is described as being a who's who of the Australian art world.

Another key event confirmed for Art Month Sydney 2014 is Art at Work: Unexpected corporate collections, which will offer behind the scenes tours of some of Sydney's most comprehensive corporate art collections.

There will also be
Designer Collections, where some of Sydney's most celebrated designers share their most treasured objects and discuss how their design backgrounds have informed their collecting choices.

The overall theme for Art Month Sydney 2014 is
Intersections and Parallels. Curated by New Zealand born artist and creative industries innovator Scrap Wall, it will celebrate the blending of boundaries between art and design, art and fashion, art and film and the cross-sector collaborations that arise from this. Art Month Sydney will run from 1 to 23 March 2014.
