29 August 2011 | Ken McGregor, an art adviser for Art Series Hotels, has just finished a 1,300km walk to raise money for the Western Desert Dialysis Appeal.

The appeal supports Aboriginal communities in their fight against diabetes and kidney failure. For people living in remote communities, getting dialysis treatment can mean moving away from friends and family to regional centres like Alice Springs. The Western Desert Dialysis Appeal aims to make treatment available to people where they live.

McGregor began his walk in Alice Springs on 1 August 2011 and arrived at his destination, the small community of Kiwirrkurra, on Friday.

The fundraising campaign is still open. Donations can be made via the appeal’s
website.

McGregor will also be producing a book on the trip, with all proceeds going to the appeal.

You can also view photos from McGregor’s trip on the Art Series Hotels'
Facebook page.

Art Series Hotels is the name behind Melbourne’s The Cullen, The Olsen and The Blackman. A welcome back event will be held in coming weeks when McGregor returns to Melbourne.
