Artists from the APY Lands travel to Germany - Art Collector

20 April 2011 | A handful of artists and art centre managers will be travelling to Germany for a new exhibition showcasing the work currently coming out of the Western APY Lands.

The group exhibition, which has been organised by ArtKelch in Freiburg, will include work from three art centres - Ninuku Arts, Tjungu Palya and Tjala Arts.

Artists Keith Stevens and Ginger Wikilyiri from Tjungu Palya and Molly Nampitjin Miller and Yaritji Connelly from Ninuku Arts will make the trip to Freiburg for the exhibition. They will be accompanied by art centre managers Amanda Dent, Brian Hallett and Claire Eltringham.

The exhibition will also include work by Hector Tjupuru Burton, Ruby Williamson, Wawiriya Burton, Tiger Palpatja, Maringka Baker, Harry Tjutjuna and Jimmy Donegan, among many others.

Previous ArtKelch exhibitions have focused on the work of artists from the Papunya Tula and Warlukurlangu art centres.

The exhibition will launch at a private museum near Stuttgart and will also tour to Emanuel Walderdorff Galerie in Cologne and the Grassimuseum für Völkerkunde in Leipzig. The final stage of the tour concludes in October 2011.
