Artists team up for Arts Project Australia - Art Collector

31 August 2010 | Twenty-eight exhibiting artists have teamed up with studio and non-studio Arts Project Australia artists to present a special exhibition in Melbourne, titled Portrait Exchange. Arts Project Australia supports people with disabilities to become practitioners in the visual arts. Among the participants are Rob McHaffie, Godwin Bradbeer, and Geoff Newton.

“The generosity of the artists invited to take part in this exhibition,” says curator Lindy Judge, “has brought the best elements of the art world inside the Arts Project studio – the mutual support and exchange of ideas that can be difficult for an artist with a disability to access. But the works need no context. They do not portray the difficulty of making work in an unfamiliar environment or the tension of meeting someone for the first time. The work transcends the potential limitations of the project and are testament to the resilience of art and art making.”
