Australia Council announces Visual Arts Award & Arts Medal - Art Collector

6 March 2013 | Tracey Moffatt and Juliana Engberg will be announced as the winners of the Australia Council Visual Arts Awards for 2012 in a ceremony at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Sydney later this evening.

Moffatt’s work has been critically acclaimed locally and internationally for decades. She was recently recognised with a solo exhibition of her films and videos at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

Engberg is currently the artistic director of Australian Centre for Contemporary Art in Melbourne, and will be the artistic director of the 19th Sydney biennale in 2014. In her extensive career she has curated over 400 exhibitions and has written over 1,500 contemporary art articles.

Moffatt will be awarded the $40,000 Australia Council Visual Arts Award, which acknowledges exceptional creative achievements, and Engberg will be awarded the $10,000 Australia Council Visual Arts Medal for professional achievement.
