7 November 2011 | Australian artists Selina Ou, James & Eleanor Avery and Sam Smith have been selected for a group exhibition at a Portuguese commercial gallery.

The gallery’s director, James Steele, has a longstanding connection with the Australian art world, and has spent a decade working in commercial galleries, including with his family’s galleries in Adelaide (Anima Gallery and Robert Steele Gallery) as well as Sherman Gallery, Rex Irwin Art Dealer and Grantpirrie. He has also worked on his own curatorial projects at Firstdraft and MOP Projects.

Steele is now the director of 3+1 Arte Contemporanea in Lisbon, and hopes to continue showing Australian artists as part of the gallery’s international program.

The group exhibition
Conversations from here opens on 11 November 2011.
