|22 May 2013 | The Australian War Memorial will host new media artist Baden Pailthorpe as its inaugural artist in residence.|
Pailthorpe's digital works engage with the political and cultural impact of military technologies. Director of the War Memorial, Brendan Nelson stated that the residency will ensure that the contemporary military experience is interpreted in a meaningful way for modern audiences.
The residency was made possible through the Australia Council's early career residency program. Pailthorpe will be undertaking extensive research into the Memorial's collection to develop a major new body of work exploring the impact of war on Australian society. He will begin the three month residency from July this year.
