 Barbie Kjar’s artwork explores the nature of humanity and the richness and diversity of the myriad cultures of the world. Kjar’s fascination with social and cultural traditions, language, storytelling, dance and mythology imbue her work with depth and a vibrant sense of life.

The beauty and mystery of the human condition is vividly expressed through her new and compelling series of portraits realised across a range of media and techniques. Through close observation and profound connection with each sitter, Kjar eloquently uncovers unique qualities of each individual, evoking for the viewer the experiences they have lived and chosen to share with the artist.
