13 March 2013 | Renowned Australian art identity Barry Keldoulis has just been appointed CEO and group fairs director of Art Fairs Australia, the organisation behind Melbourne Art Fair and the upcoming inaugural Sydney Contemporary art fair.

Keldoulis has over three decades of experience in the art industry. He recently closed his Sydney gallery, leaving many wondering what his next move would be.

The founder of Art Fairs Australia, Tim Etchells, said that Keldoulis's extensive knowledge of the international and Australian art scene will make him an invaluable asset in developing the two fairs.

Keldoulis's first major project will be the launch of Sydney Contemporary, a new biennial art fair that will be held at Carriageworks in September this year. Sydney Contemporary and Melbourne Art Fair will be presented on alternative years, with the next Melbourne Art Fair happening in 2014.
