Kate Mills and James Roth have been announced as new Biennale of Sydney board directors.
The Biennale of Sydney is a non-profit organisation that presents Australia’s largest contemporary visual arts event. Held every two years, the Biennale is a three-month exhibition, with an accompanying program of artist talks, performances, forums, guided tours, family days and other special events.
The 20th Biennale of Sydney, to be held in 2016, will be curated by Stephanie Rosenthal.
Chairman Phillip Keir voiced his support of the appointment of Mills and Roth top the board, “Both are passionate supporters of contemporary art and their skills will further enhance the diverse expertise of the current board”.
Bringing extensive experience in law, commerce and government, Mills explains, “I am delighted to join the Board of the Biennale of Sydney, a landmark event in Australia that I have long enjoyed. I look forward to working with my fellow board directors and the staff to build on the organisation’s strengths.”
Roth agrees, “I have a great interest in contemporary art and welcome the opportunity to join the board”. Roth brings with him a wealth of senior management experience from the finance sector.
