Bundanon Trust - Art Collector
Gifted in 1993 by Arthur and Yvonne Boyd, the Bundanon property is located on 1,100 hectares of pristine bush land near Nowra in New South Wales, two and a half hours south of Sydney. The property includes two sites, the Bundanon Homestead and Riversdale.
The award winning Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre on the Riversdale site was designed by internationally celebrated Australian architect Glenn Murcutt in association with Reg Lark and Wendy Lewin. The centre hosts Bundanon’s unique creative arts program for children. International artists in residence are also housed at Riversdale and at purpose built studios on the Bundanon Homestead site.
Visitors are also welcome to bring a picnic lunch to enjoy on the property parklands, or go for a bushwalk to the natural amphitheatre or Shoalhaven River. Guided tours of the Bundanon Homestead and Arthur Boyd’s Studio are also available.
Bundanon's art collection comprises over 3,600 items with more than 1,200 works by Arthur Boyd, another 1,200 works representing five generations of the Boyd family dynasty and a number of works by Arthur Boyd's contemporaries, such as Sir Sidney Nolan, John Perceval, Joy Hester and Charles Blackman. Donations from past artists in residence also form a significant part of the Collection.
A selection of works from the collection are on display in the 1866 heritage homestead, the 1870s kitchen and Arthur Boyd’s studio.
Upcoming exhibition highlights include Seen Not Heard: Upstairs Gallery at the Homestead, showcasing a number of the most enduring artworks in Bundanon’s collection that feature children and infants, including paintings, sketches and ceramics by Arthur Boyd, Boyd family members and artists in residence. This exhibition will show until November 2014.
Selected works from The Paper by Rosemary Laing, created at Bundanon in 2013, will be on show in the Homestead from September 2014 until January 2015.
Touring exhibition highlights include Arthur Boyd: An Active Witness curated by Zara Stanhope, presenting paintings, prints, ceramics, archival documents and film from the trust’s collection.
