Caroline Magerl: Figures, faces and the poetic narrative - Art Collector

It would be wrong to label Caroline Magerl as simply a portrait painter. Rather, Magerl is a painter of people. The emotional content portrayed by her works illuminate our view of the subject, creating an innate sense of attraction towards the subject or scene; the desire to look closer. While the choice of subject is deliberate, the context of her work is expressed on a more intuitive level. There is a simplicity in form, often expressed in an awkward composition yet balanced by a reality often felt but less often contemplated.
