Vipoo Srivilasa’s work has been acquired by the Queensland Art Gallery of Modern Art and the Gold Coast City Gallery through Brisbane Gallery Edwina Corlette.

The artist’s newest suite of porcelain cross-species characters, “animals that are so cute you don’t know how bad they are – rabbits, feral cats – invaders,” says Srivilasa, explore ideas around settlement in new lands. Artist and writer
Carol Schwarzman notes that this sets up “parallels with asylum seekers, the European appropriation of the Australian continent,” and reflects Srivilasa’s “continuing investigation of the fluidity of borders between East and West”.

Srivilasa’s work is already held in national and international collections including the National Gallery of Australia, the Art Gallery of South Australia and the Shaw International Centre for Contemporary Ceramics in Canada. He has exhibited throughout Australia as well as internationally at institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and Saatchi Gallery in London.
