|4 July 2011 | Artist-run initiative Kaleidoscope Gallery has moved from Paddington to Sydney’s Danks Street in Waterloo. |
Kaleidoscope launched its new space in late June, opening with a group exhibition featuring 17 artists including Alison See, Ember Fairbain-Ramsay, Juliet Rosser, Natalee Colless, James Kearns and Sarah Park.
Kaleidoscope’s relationships co-ordinator Lauren Elise Barlow says the gallery aims to be more than just an exhibition venue for emerging artists. “When an artist or group of artists propose shows with us we aim to expose and help them as much as possible – having an in house curator hang their work [and] getting the PR exposure and social media interested in the exhibitions,” she explains.
The goal is to help artists make the leap from exhibiting in artist-run spaces to gaining commercial representation.
Kaleidoscope Gallery can now be found at 3-7 Danks Street, near Waterloo’s main art hub the Danks Street Depot.
