David-Ashley Kerr: Introduced Species - Art Collector

David-Ashley Kerr, Untitled 4, 2012. Courtesy: the artist and Queensland Centre for Photography, Brisbane

Human interaction with nature has long held fascination in the arts and the large format photographic works of David-Ashley Kerr add to this tradition. In the midst of nature's embrace, we find a solitary male figure, vulnerable with nakedness, exposed to the elements. In an ever-increasing concrete and technological world losing its connectedness with nature, this work examines the increasing detachment of man with nature. Yet, notwithstanding that detachment, through its capture of luscious landscapes these works ultimately encourage a revival of connectedness with nature.
