This exhibition will present new Mokuy sculptures by Elcho Island artists : David Djarrka & Wendy Galanini. Mokuy are ghosts or spirit men belonging to different clans, each possessing a unique personality. David and his wife Wendy collaborate on these Mokuy sculptures, with Djarrka carving the wood and Galanini painting in ochre. The husband and wife team collect the wood together and discuss how each carving will take form, and the story it is trying to convey.
