In his solo exhibition at Anna Pappas Gallery, David Ray exhibits new ceramic works resulting from a residency in Liverpool. Ray will explore the physicality of process and materials, concepts of the hand-made in a continuously outsourced society, and subtle cultural commentary while utilising ceramics to skilfully subvert societal perceptions of object and form.

Creating neo-baroque ceramics, incorporating an abundance of colours, textures and decals onto his handcrafted vessels, Ray is interested in the idea of ceramics as both functional objects and ornaments of value, exploring this duality through critical observation of contemporary consumerism and perceptions of identity.
