18 September 2012 | Simon Denny has been selected for the 2013 Preis der Nationalgalerie für junge Kunst, a German prize for young art.

There are only four nominees for the prize. The others are Kerstin Brätsch, Mariana Castillo Deball and Haris Epaminonda.

Denny was selected from a longlist of 140 nominations put forward by European museum directors and curators.

The award show opens in August next year, with the winner then receiving a cash prize and a solo exhibition at Berlin’s Nationalgalerie in 2014.

The selection follows a streak of European successes for Denny, including a showing at Art Basel in the Art Statements section which resulted in his winning the Baloise Art Prize. Other successes include the Ars Viva Prize and a residency in Munich.
