Deutscher and Hackett hires former Christie's head - Art Collector

Roger McIlroy.

13 February 2012 | Roger McIlroy is returning to the auction world. The former chairman and managing director of Christie’s Australia has been appointed head auctioneer for Deutscher and Hackett.

McIlroy will conduct the next Deutscher and Hackett auction in April.

McIlroy spent 30 years with Christie’s but when the auction house left the Australian market he established his own art consultancy. He is keen to be involved in the secondary market again.

“Chris Deutscher’s approach was timely,” McIlroy says. “I have missed the theatre and excitement of the rostrum.”
