Dianne Gall: The dissociated - Art Collector

Dianne Gall, Disconnection, 2012. Oil on linen, 66 x 76cm. Courtesy: the artist and Beaver Galleries

Inspired by the cinematic style of film noir, Dianne Gall explores the fragility of the human spirit and the transient nature of life. The characters in her paintings appear mentally detached. Women stare into space or look out to the nightscape, often dazzled by the moonlight or the city lights. The sense of unease is heightened by the dramatic lighting style and the shadows that play across pristine interiors, patterned floors and marbled walls. Born in Adelaide, Dianne studied fine art at the South Australian School of Art. Her work is represented in various collections including Parliament House and Artbank.
