Djilpin Arts Aboriginal Corporation is based in Katherine (gallery and cafe) and Beswick (Ghunmarn Culture Centre), which is 100 kilometres south of Katherine on the Central Arnhem highway, Northern Territory.

Operating as a not-for-profit, 100 per cent Aboriginal owned arts enterprise, the artists and staff are connected across Arnhem Land from the tip of Kakadu, east across to Nhulunbuy, south to Borroloola, and back to Katherine. Rembarrnga, Mialli, Rittharngu, Jawoyn and Dalabon language groups are represented.

Djilpin Arts was established in 2002 to inspire and cultivate arts and cultural practice in the Beswick community. Currently, the organisation manages a number of innovative programs that promote visual, performing and media arts, including the annual Walking with Spirits Festival.

Djilpin Arts’ galleries offer a wide selection of limited edition etchings, silk screens and wood cut prints spanning seven years of local artist’s engagement with the print medium. The renowned Beswick weavers have transformed a fibre art tradition and produce unique hand-woven Mukuy shadow spirits and other characters belonging to the Arnhem landscape as well as locally dyed baskets, mats and dilly bags. Sculptures include finely crafted morning star poles, wooden fish traps and carved animals, as well as limited edition bronze Mimi’s.

Djilpin Arts also offers locally produced jewellery, including delicate seed necklaces and exclusive hand-rolled fine silver pendants and earrings. The Djilpin Arts culture media program provides a full range of merchandise including books, cds, dvds, postcards and t-shirts.

The Ghunmarn Culture Centre is home to the exquisite Blanasi Collection representing the finest in West Arnhem’s painting tradition.

Visitors to the Ghunmarn Culture Centre are welcome to stay at Djilpin Arts’ award winning Djakanimba Pavillions.
