Donald the great raconteur was bother painter, draughtsman, printmaker, sculptor and illustrator and undoubtedly one of Australia’s finest modern artists. An intrepid traveller, Donald Friend continually sought an exotic lifestyle and this exhibition features works encompassing a variety of places and media. Included are rare exquisite oils and beautifully detailed drawings and watercolours which span his lifetime. Friend exhibited in London with Walter Sickert and Augustus John and today his work hangs in all major Australian public institutions, as well as private collections in Australia and overseas.
