Dorryce Rock: Liquid Poetry - Art Collector

Dorryce Rock, Liquid Poetry 6, 2012. Oil varnish and pigment on perspex, 80 x 80cm. Courtesy: the artist and Rex-Livingston Art Dealer, Sydney

The medium that Rock uses is, indeed, liquid pigmented oil varnish, allowed to flow over canvas or perspex where it can be manipulated and channelled into artistic expression. As the varnish dries, new possibilities are revealed, to be built layer upon layer. With this careful and time consuming process Rock aims to capture some of the poetry of everyday, the arbitrary beauty so often missed in our hurried lives. Earth and water, flowers and trees provide him with an inexhaustible source of subject matter.
