Dorryce Rock: The Return of Gelato - Art Collector

Dorryce Rock, Liquid Poetry, Grey Scale #2, 2013. Oil varnish and pigment on canvas, 130 x 130cm. Courtesy: the artist and Rex-Livingston Art Dealer, Sydney

In both process and outcome, the work of Dorryce Rock is layered and organic. It is concerned with the senses and the way we respond to the light, texture and movements of our surroundings. He uses liquid pigmented oil varnish; allowed to flow over canvas or perspex, it is manipulated and channelled into artistic expression. As the varnish dries new possibilities are revealed and built upon. With this careful and time consuming process Rock aims to capture some of the poetry of everyday, the arbitrary beauty so often missed in our hurried lives.
