Douglas Abbott: Karteke Pmare Tywerrtye - My Father's Country, The West MacDonnell Ranges - Art Collector

Douglas Abbott, James Range NT, 2014. Watercolour on paper, 54 x 74cm. Courtesy: Ngurratjuta Ilta Ntjarra and Alcaston Gallery, Melbourne

Greatly influenced by the art of Namatjira, Douglas Abbott has developed his own unique style, employing a rich colour palette of bold reds, lush greens and luminous gold.

In this new body of work, Abbott depicts his father’s Arrernte country, the West MacDonnell Ranges, revealing the seasonal changes and natural events that alter his landscape.

Abbott's paintings have been featured in exhibitions throughout Australia and internationally, and collected by major institutions, including National Gallery of Victoria and Art Gallery of South Australia.
