Douglas Stichbury: The Practice of Leisure - Art Collector

Douglas Stichbury, Observer, 2014. Charcoal on paper, 120 x 150cm. Courtesy: the artist and Suite Gallery, Wellington

In The Practice of Leisure, Stichbury has borrowed from both classical and outmoded advertorial techniques to produce a series of oil paintings and large-scale charcoal drawings that consider our relationship with leisure. Simultaneously allegorical and enigmatic, the compositions centre around the question of how we define enjoyment and it's correspondence with work.
