Elisabeth Weissensteiner: Mirror Brain - Art Collector

Mirror Brain explores the problem between scientific enquiry and human experience. The installation was originally developed during Elisabeth Weissensteiner's stay as artist in residence at the University of Bremen, Germany and being the guest of neurobiologist Dorothea Brückner last year. The projected installation consists of slowly overlapping images and text fragments derived from neurobiological research sources and the artist's photo archive. Presented sculptures will depict the human head as the boundary between cognition and perception. They will lead viewers into the mirror chamber of scientific inquiry as self-perception and perception of nature are like mirrors turned on each other.
