|22 August 2011 | Emerging Queensland artist Seabastion Toast has won the inaugural Gainsborough Greens Art Award. She was awarded $10,000 for a painting titled Dean Moriarty. |
The awards have been established by Mirvac in an attempt to integrate the Gainsborough Greens residential development with the local community and create more awareness of the arts on the northern Gold Coast.
“Being our first year we anticipated around 80 entries in total but ended up with close to 180,” says Mirvac QLD CEO Matthew Wallace. “Due to the major success this year, the event will most definitely be back bigger and better in 2012.”
Waters’s co-judges included Russell Hamilton from Gold Coast TAFE and Megan McGregor from the ArtShed in Brisbane.
