|13 November 2013 | The recipients of the Qantas Foundation's Encouragement of Australian Contemporary Art Award have been announced.|
They are Abdul-Rahman Abdullah (WA), Khadim Ali (NSW), Kate Barker (ACT), Joseph Breikers (QLD), Yinimala Gumana (NT), Mark Hilton (VIC), Anne Mestitz (TAS) and Amy Joy Watson (SA).
Three artists from each state and territory were nominated for the award, with one recipient from each selected by a panel of art industry representatives. They each receive a cash prize, funding for a community residency and Qantas flights.
Qantas' charitable foundation (the Qantas Foundation) initiated the award in 2008 to encourage promising emerging artists to further their practice.
