|22 August 2011 | Fifteen finalists have been selected for next year’s Basil Sellers Art Prize: Brook Andrew, Richard Bell, Lauren Brincat, Jon Campbell, Pat Macan, Louise Hearman, Greg Creek, Eugene Carchesio, Simon Perry, Kerrie Poliness, Patrick Pound, Christian Thompson, Sangeeta Sandrasegar and collaborative duo Gabriella and Silvana Mangano.|
The finalists now have 8 months to complete their work before the prize is decided. The biennial award, which is worth $100,000, recognises art that deals with the subject of sport.
Judges for the 2012 prize include Erica Green, the director of the Anne and Gordon Samstag Museum of Art; Lisa Havilah, the CEO of CarriageWorks in Sydney; former rugby union player Nick Farr Jones; and Chris McAuliffe, director of the Ian Potter Museum of Art
