Finalists selected for WA Indigenous Art Prize - Art Collector

18 April 2011 | Gunybi Ganambarr, Timothy Cook and Lena Nyadbi are among the 16 finalists in the running for the $50,000 Western Australian Indigenous Art Awards.

They were selected by a panel comprising curators Tina Baum, Glenn Iseger-Pilkington and Robert Cook, along with author and anthropologist Howard Morphy.

The other finalists are Jan Billycan, Michael Cook, Angkaliya Curtis, Angelina George, Gary Lee, Danie Mellor, Patrick Mung Mung, Trevor Nickolls, Lena Nyadbi, Tiger Palpatja, Paula Paul, Reko Rennie, Nyilyari Tjapangati and Nyapanyapa Yunupinu.

The selection represents a broad spectrum of cultures and language groups including Gija, Tiwi, Pitjantjatjara and Bidjara.

The winner will be announced in August with the finalists exhibition going on show at the Art Gallery of Western Australia on 13 August 2011.
