Fiona Foley: Retro-active - A 25 year survey - Art Collector

A survey of Fiona Foley's works from the past 25 years, Retro-active reveals how unrelenting this Queensland artist of international renown has been in her quest to have the hidden histories of Indigenous Australians acknowledged. The 40 works in the exhibition cover most of the media Foley has employed since 1988, including painting, drawing, mixed-media, photography and sculpture. Probably better known for her photographic series and public art than for her painting, this survey draws attention to the poetry of a medium that Foley has used to portray both the sensitivities of her country and harsh historical realities.
