|19 February 2013 | The annual Montalto Sculpture Prize and Exhibition has just revealed its 2013 winner Fredrick White. |
White's towering aluminium pipe work Abundance, was awarded the main prize. White is based in Melbourne and works in metal to investigate connections between people and to the Earth.
The judging panel for the prize includes a set panel and a rotating guest judge. This year's guest judge was Jason Smith, director of Heide Museum of Modern Art.
The Montalto Sculpture Prize is now in its eleventh year, and this year it grew from a $20,000 prize to a $30,000 prize. The 24 shortlisted works are being displayed in curated locations throughout the Montalto vineyard property in Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, until 28 April 2013.
