Gallery 9 adds new artists to its stable - Art Collector

9 July 2012 | Sydney’s Gallery 9 now represents painter Jelena Telecki and collaborative duo David Lawrey and Jaki Middleton.

Telecki, who works in a moody palette, often chooses to paint subjects who are doing something pointless or just giving up. Her interest is in capturing uncomfortable moments of realisation. In her artist statement Telecki says: “It is difficult to define failure for various reasons as failure in one system may not be failure in another. Similarly in my work, the depiction of foolishness or pointlessness may not be all that it seems to be.”

Lawrey & Middleton, based in Sydney, produce sculptural works that incorporate motion, optical phenomena and repetition, often using iconic visual images from film, photography and history.
