Alcaston Gallery, in conjunction with Buku Larrnggay Mulka Artists, Northern Territory, is thrilled to present new carved and painted sculptures by Galuma Maymuru, the only surviving daughter of the great artist, Narritjin. In this exhibition, Mother Cloud (in reference to the maternal wet season), Galuma Maymuru embraces sacred designs used in Yolngu ceremonial body painting for women to portray the sacred woman Nyapilingu in the form of wapitja, digging stick or sceptres. We welcome Galuma Maymuru to our stable of artists with her first exhibition at Alcaston Gallery, Mother Cloud.
