|4 December 2012 | The Art Gallery of New South Wales has announced Gareth Sansom as the winner of the Dobell Prize for Drawing 2012 for Made in Wadeye, a suite of 20 mixed media drawings (detail pictured above). |
Aida Tomescu, artist and winner of the 2003 Dobell prize, judged this year’s awards. The 47 finalists are on display at the gallery until 10 February 2013. They include Bernard Ollis, Suzanne Archer, Allan Mitelman, Wendy Sharpe, Godwin Bradbeer and Anne Judell.
|It was also announced that this year will be the last the prize is run in its current form. AGNSW and the Sir William Dobell Art Foundation are instead launching The Dobell Australian Drawing Biennial in 2014.|
