Georgina Cue: Scenes - Art Collector

Georgina Cue, ‘Picture of reclining woman’, 2018. Archival Inkjet print, Edition 1 of 3 + 2AP, 114 x 158.7cm. Courtesy: the artist and Neon Parc, Melbourne.

Georgina Cue’s new series of photographs reflect her ongoing interest in theatrical staging, photography and female positioning within this. Referencing Bauhaus theatre, modernist painting and graffiti culture Cue utilises DIY materials such as cardboard and spray paint to create a series of openly constructed stages in a suburban garage. These sets become the background for a series of photographs in which the artist herself features as an avant-garde muse. Drawing from western ideals of the body the images explore female identity through self-portraiture and performance, with grungy, poised and elegant aesthetics.
