For his latest exhibition at Sullivan+Strumpf, Gregory Hodge will present new acrylic paintings on canvas, collages and works on paper. This series continues the artist’s engagement with process-based approaches to painting. Beginning with collages made from paper, tape and drafting film, Hodge employs complex technical processes such as trompe-l’oeil, cast shadows and the manipulation of paint’s translucent and opaque qualities to give illusory impressions of these simple and seemingly provisional materials.

These paintings blur the boundaries between two and three dimensionality and playfully explore the space between image and reality, representation and abstraction.
