This impressive array of museum quality paintings represents the cream of Australia’s artistic talent. Major works Fred Williams, Sidney Nolan, Charles Blackman as well as a magnificent oil by Brett Whiteley titled ‘Seagull (Japanese Screaming Voice)’ 1988, which was included in Whiteley’s iconic bird show in Surry Hills. Themes from Australia’s history are narrated in works such as Sidney Nolan’s ‘Ned Kelly’ oil and two large oils from Nolan’s ‘Miner Series’ drawn from his observations of workers from the Hamersley Ranges in Northwest WA in the mid-1970s.
