Group Exhibition: New Wave: Experimental Painting - Art Collector

David Palliser, Magnesium, 2011. Oil on canvas, 112 x 137cm. Courtesy: the artist and Anna Pappas Gallery

David Palliser continues his exploration of contemporary abstraction with ecstatic inventions and exasperated analysis. His paintings employ burst through layers, gestural mark-making and illusions of sculptural forms. Hovering between the figurative and abstract, they constantly challenge the viewer’s perception.

Billy Gruner and Sarah Keighery will draw on their influence of the experimental painting movement of the 80s, which brought a savage return to reductive practices. They will collaboratively create works which extend on the themes explored in concrete art, colour field, geometric and other forms of early radical abstract art.
