Group exhibition: Metamorphoses - Art Collector

Tim Noble and Sue Webster, The Gamekeeper's Gibbet (detail), 2011. Solid sterling silver gilded in pure gold with metal stand and light projector, 71 x 42 x 160cm. Courtesy: the artists, Christian Glaeser and the Art Gallery of South Australia, Adelaide

Inspired by the remarkable new acquisition The Gamekeeper’s Gibbet (detail shown above), this exhibition reveals how the notion of changes to form and identity is incorporated in art across time and place and how the expression of this theme itself transforms.

In the wondrous but macabre beauty of
The Gamekeeper’s Gibbet, light transforms abstract sculptures into the figurative. Other works relate to the literal interpretation of metamorphosis, involving a complete change of a physical form or substance. Other exhibits explore changes to visual reality. Spiritual transformation and changes in time are also represented. The Gamekeeper's Gibbet was a gift to the gallery from Tim Fairfax through the Art Gallery of South Australia Foundation 2013.
