|The John Leslie Art Prize is one of Australia’s most prestigious prizes for landscape painting, consistently attracting the highest calibre of artists in Australia.|
This significant art prize for landscape painting has run biannually since 2000. This year the overall prize money has increased to $20,000, including a first prize of $15,000.
The gallery received a record 273 entries from all over Australia. A selection panel comprising gallery advisory board members and gallery staff determined a shortlist of 35 finalists, whose works will be presented at the gallery. The works by the finalists cover almost every approach to landscape painting and provide a vivid account of the state of art in Australia.
