Group exhibition: The rug project - Art Collector

Nepalese weavers working on the rug designed by Jeremy Lepisto. Courtesy: Beaver Galleries, Canberra.

The rug project is a collaboration between Isabella Holding, Beaver Galleries and a select group of Canberra artists. Through her Weave Art Change initiative, Holding works with Nepalese weavers to create fair trade certified hand woven artist carpets - the weavers receive regular work and a percentage of profits are directed back to education and health programs in Kathmandu. Coming from a variety of disciplines, the selected artists designed works specifically to be made into hand woven rugs for this special Centenary of Canberra exhibition. Each work is a unique design, skillfully translated by the weavers into limited edition rugs.
