|12 December 2011 | After more than 12 years of trading and 6 years at its current location in Enmore, Hardware Gallery is closing its doors. |
The final exhibition, which closes 17 December 2011, features knitted sculptures and embroidered watercolour paintings by artists Thomas C Chung and Amanda Humphries and is aptly titled What I Had I Gave Away.
In its time, the gallery has held over 200 exhibitions and shown work by over 400 artists.
The decision to close the gallery comes as director Lew Palaitis moves on to take up the role of general manager for the 2012 Sydney Fringe Festival.
He comments: "Thomas and Amanda's exhibition is the perfect compliment to what we have achieved as a gallery over the past decade and represents much of what we set out to achieve for young, independent artists.”
